Do you really sew all these yourself?

I design and sew all the samples and occasionally get help with sewing from local makers.  I'm always looking for help in the sewing department, so if you know someone who sews with knits on a serger, let me know.  I dye each piece individually or in size runs.

Can I really wash it in the machine, won't it run?

Yes, everything is machine washable. I use Procion dyes, which are extremely colorfast and bond to the fabric. Each piece is washed multiple times after dyeing to remove any excess dye.

You may see a little color in the water during early washes—this is normal and won’t affect the garment. I recommend washing very bright pieces separately for the first few washes and removing them promptly from the washer.

Will I get the exact one in the photo?

Yes. Each item is one of a kind, and you will receive the exact piece shown. You can view each one by selecting your size.

How does the sizing work?

A medium generally corresponds to an 8/10. Fits vary from more fitted to more relaxed, so you may prefer different sizes depending on the style.

Can I put it in the dryer, will it shrink?

All pieces are pre-shrunk, but I recommend hang drying to extend the life of the garment. You can tumble dry on low briefly to release wrinkles, but it's not usually necessary.

Where can I see the line in person, do any boutiques carry it?

Cloud Candy is primarily online, but I host open studio events in Warren, Rhode Island throughout the year and show in other locations. You can check the schedule here.

Do you do custom orders?  

I don’t offer custom or made-to-order pieces. I’ve found it’s not sustainable without significantly raising prices.

I do, however, take inspiration from customer requests. If there are colors or patterns you’d love to see on styles I already make, I’m always happy to hear that. It often influences what I create next.

Because each piece is made intuitively, trying to recreate something exactly or work to specs takes the fun out of the process and that’s a big part of what makes each piece special.

How about gift cards?  

Gift cards purchased directly through me are valid for the life of the business. Gift cards received through donations or fundraisers expire after one year. They can be used on any available pieces in the shop.

I have a boutique, can I place a wholesale order?
